Поводом очередной вспышки ненависти к Обаме послужило то, что он отменил политику, по которой все кубинцы, достигшие американской земли, автоматически становятся легальными иммигрантами.
Господа, а вы в курсе, что число кубинских иммигрантов резко увеличилось пару лет назад, потому что кубинское правительство отменило ограничения на выезд?
Если это неважно и все равно надо принимать всех желающих кубинцев, то почему против мексиканцев, наоборот, надо построить стену? Им тоже многим не слишком хорошо живется.
Ах, надо принимать только тех, кому не слишком хорошо живется под социалистической диктатурой? Ммм, как насчет пары сотен миллионов китайцев?

In an interview with the Tampa Bay Times late Friday, Trump told political reporter Adam Smith that allowing Cuban immigrants legal access to the U.S under a 1966 law known as the Cuban Adjustment Act is wrong.

"I don't think it would be fair," Trump said in the interview.

"You know we have a system now for bringing people into the country, and what we should be doing is we should be bringing people who are terrific people who have terrific records of achievement, accomplishment. … You have people that have been in the system for years (waiting to immigrate to America), and it's very unfair when people who just walk across the border, and you have other people that do it legally."

А, ну, значит, Трамп это отменять не будет (возможно). Тогда выходит, что это не в пику ему (хотя я бы все равно в последний момент такого делать не стал).

Интересно, не заявлял ли Трамп заодно и противоположного?

Судя по всему - нет. Я во всяком случае не видел об этом упоминаний. Наоборот - видел упоминания того, что в связи с избранием Трампа ожидается всплеск иммигрантов с Кубы (т.к. Трамп собирается прикрыть эту лазейку в существующем законе.)

Законопроект о том, чтобы отменить специальный статус для кубинских иммигрантов, был предложен еще в апреле прошлого года. Внес его не кто иной как Марк Рубио, сын кубинских иммигрантов и кандидат в президенты от республиканской партии.

“As many of you know, I am the son of Cuban immigrants,” the Miamian told his colleagues. “I live in a community where Cuban exiles have had an indelible imprint in our country, on the state of Florida and in South Florida in particular. And yet I stand here today to say that this provision of law, this distinction, is no longer justified.”

“A significant number of people are drawn to this country from Cuba because they know when they arrive they can step foot on dry land, they will immediately receive status and they immediately qualify for a package of federal benefits that no other immigrant group would qualify for unless they can prove they’re refugees,” Rubio said.

Тогда он не прошел по чисто техническим причинам. Точнее - это была поправка уже рассмотренному законопроекту на совсем другую тему.

“At the last moment (he) wanted to open back up the closed and negotiated FAA bill that was ready to go, and that’s why he was denied that opportunity,” [senator] Nelson [D-Fl.] said on Friday in his Tampa congressional district office. “His amendment was not pending and it was not germane. But he will have an another opportunity and I will help him with that.”

“It was going to happen, sooner or later: some reform, some change,” U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen [R-Fl.] acknowledged to the Miami Herald.

She criticized Obama for making a sudden, “arbitrary” move with no lawmaker input. But she also predicted the policy would not have lasted another year.

“Congress would have done away with it — we would have reformed it. Something needed to be done,” she said. “Shame on us for not fixing it. But to do this within one week of his presidency ending?”

Словом, впечатление такое, что республиканцы критикуют сейчас Обаму не за то, что он сделал что-то неприемлемое, из ряда вон выходящее, а за то, что он украл у них отличную идею.

Пока что Трамп решил забанить всех беженцев - и кубинских, и не кубинских, как минимум на четыре месяца.
